Global Time Off to Volunteer Program

We encourage employee volunteerism to drive positive change in the communities in which we live and work. Our Time Off to Volunteer program allows all full-time Celestica employees to take up to two paid days per year to volunteer with recognized charitable organizations. Providing employees with meaningful opportunities to volunteer their time and expertise is an important component of supporting our communities.

Solar Panel Solution for Hospital in Haiti

The Hôpital Albert Schweitzer (HAS) Haiti is the only 24/7 hospital available to some 350,000 people in the Artibonite Valley of Haiti, but it was faced with a challenge—an unreliable energy solution. Each year, HAS spent over $400,000 on diesel to run its off-grid generators, an expensive and unpredictable solution as there is no backup for frequent brownouts. In 2014, we donated 800 solar panels to HAS. This solution will enable HAS to save more than 20 per cent of its annual energy costs. In addition, by using green energy, 200 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions will be eliminated each year.

Celestica Haiti Project


Thailand Organic Happy Rice Project

In Laem Chabang, Thailand, Celestica volunteers visited a local school to bring school supplies and instruments for the students. During the visit, the students taught Celestica employees how to grow organic rice in the school’s rice field. The volunteer initiative resulted from the sites “Organic Happiness Rice Project”. The project promotes employee health and well-being by providing employees with the opportunity to purchase organic rice at work that is sourced directly from the local farm. This initiative also helps support the local farmers who make it their mission to grow the rice organically, without any chemical fertilizer.

United Way

Toronto United Way Campaign

Over the past 17 years, our Toronto, Canada site has supported the annual United Way campaign by participating in the CN Tower Climb, hosting a large variety of employee-driven activities and volunteering at United Way agencies in the Greater Toronto Area. Through our corporate donation match program and our employees’ contributions, we have raised over $9 million to date.

Sensory Garden

Oradea Sensory Garden Project

In Oradea, Romania, employees participated in arranging a sensory garden for the Inclusion School Center, a school for children with mental and physical disabilities. The sensory garden provides the children with sensory opportunities that they do not normally experience.

Community Involvement Overview

We strive to enhance the communities in which we operate by encouraging employee volunteerism and financial donations in support of our giving policy and guidelines.

Innovation in Education: We support organizations that motivate and inspire youth in the areas of math, science and technology through unique hands-on experiences.

Community: We contribute to the quality of life in our community by supporting organizations such as local food banks and Habitat for Humanity.

Health and Human Services: We provide donations or volunteerism to local and national health and human service agencies. Celestica also provides aid to help relieve people in time of great need. This may include relief efforts in communities that have suffered great loss due large-scale adversities—such as floods, fires, storms and earthquakes—in the countries in which we operate.
