CES provides a look into our future - how ecosystems of players, technologies, audiences and solutions will change the way we live, work and play. Smart ‘IoT’ and AI advancements are bringing new capabilities to traditional hardware products. No matter their specific applications, the majority of these products all share at least one commonality: sophisticated sensors that are becoming more capable and accessible in collecting, analyzing and sharing volumes of data in real-time. And it’s what we can do with that data that is the game-changer.

Here are some of the technologies that we are excited to learn more about at CES:

  1. Self-Driving Technology: The exciting developments that support the future of self-driving cars, including collision avoidance, emergency braking and parking assist, are changing the transportation landscape. Sensors serve as the eyes and brains for the autonomous vehicles that will eventually move along smart roadways that monitor, manage and direct traffic. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and other technologies monitor and process what’s happening outside the car to ensure the safety of not just motorists, but everyone sharing the road. For example, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) solutions continuously monitor what’s happening on all sides of a vehicle, track objects, and direct the car to immediately take action to avoid an accident.

    1. Smart Cities: The rate of innovation in this space is accelerating - merging the latest in 5G, e-mobility, health, energy, data and more to develop solutions designed to enable a higher quality of life – safer, greener and more productive. They will eliminate traffic congestion, reduce air pollution, deliver clean energy, automate the delivery of city services and operate mass transit systems more efficiently.

      1. Digital Health: Sensors are driving technological evolutions across the global healthcare industry. Connected devices, digitization and improved access to patient data are breaking down the barriers between hospitals and homes. This will provide healthcare professionals with more real-time patient data at their fingertips, making it easier for them to collaborate on patient diagnoses and treatment recommendations. Consumers will gain more control over their healthcare. Putting these technologies in the hands of healthcare providers and consumers can improve the quality of patient care and reduce healthcare costs worldwide.

      Eyes on today and tomorrow
We’re excited to be part of the technologies that will make our lives better in 2020 and beyond. For the technology providers and manufacturers bringing these innovations to bear, applying a holistic approach to the lifecycle of a piece of hardware or software has never been more critical.

Even as our customers and partners demonstrate their latest innovations, their R&D teams are already working on the development of next generation innovation and products that will reach maturity over the next five years and beyond. As the pace of innovation continues to accelerate, we are thinking about ways we can continue to help our customers design and build more intelligence into their technologies.
