Environmental Sustainability Overview

We are committed to being a responsible partner in the communities in which we operate. 'We are minimizing the environmental impact of our operations by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing renewable energy use, and reducing our waste and water usage. We regularly evaluate and assess our suppliers to ensure sustainability is a factor in their business processes.

Renewable Energy Projects

At Celestica, we are committed to increasing the use of renewable energy sources in our operations. We currently use 58% renewable energy as part of our total energy consumption, through the use of on-site solar panels, procurement through utilities, and purchases of Energy Attribute Certificates. Our Galway, Ireland, Valencia, Spain, Oradea, Romania, and Portland, Oregon facilities derive 100% of their electricity from renewable energy. Celestica's use of on-site solar panels is growing, with panels on buildings in Thailand, Romania and Malaysia.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Celestica is committed to reducing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in alignment with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). We commit to reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions 30% by 2025 from a 2018 base year. Celestica also commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from fuel and energy-related activities, purchased goods and services and upstream and downstream transportation and distribution 10% by 2025 from a 2018 base year.

Enabling Waste Reduction

Celestica is committed to sustainable consumption through the efficient use of materials within our operations. Our facilities follow a robust waste and recycling management system to reduce, reuse, repurpose, refurbish, and recycle materials. In 2022, our offices and facilities worldwide diverted 85.7% of operational waste from landfill.

Water

We recognize the scarcity of essential natural resources such as water and are committed to reducing our consumption, particularly in “water stressed” regions. We strive to be responsible consumers of water through the improvement of our tracking and environmental management systems.
