HealtTech COVID-19 Manufacturing

As COVID-19 continues its spread, stories of ingenuity, innovation and inspiration are playing out against the backdrop of a global challenge unlike any in modern history. Healthcare workers and first responders are on the frontlines putting their health at risk while treating patients. Hospitals in many regions are full and there is a global shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks, face shields and gowns, as well as devices such as ventilators and other pieces of ICU equipment desperately needed to treat patients. Companies from around the globe - including Celestica - are taking decisive action to address these needs.

We are working with our customers to supply the equipment healthcare professionals need:

  • We are in active discussions with medical device companies as they work to add capacity and infrastructure to meet the demand for ventilators and other critical medical devices and equipment to help in the care of COVID-19 patients.
  •  In addition to working with ventilator manufacturers, we are engaged with Valencia's Polytechnic University (UPV) in the development of a new mechanical ventilator that consists of a controlled electrical-mechanical device that maintains the respiratory cycle of critical patients. The equipment has been validated in the lab, and manufacturing will begin immediately after the Spanish Drugs and Sanitary Equipment Agency grants the necessary permit.
  • We have tripled production of a portable ultrasound device doctors use to quickly perform lung scans of patients exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. Our teams are working tirelessly to deliver subassemblies for the scanner units to our customer so they can meet the ongoing demands for this device across the globe.
  • We are ramping to meet increasing demands for printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) and subassemblies for blood analyzer devices used in the testing process for COVID-19.
